The Story

In 2009 when Matthew and Rebecca Dowling hosted a Christmas Party at their home for friends and family, they accidently began a tradition. They often quip that since they had only been in their house a few months and were fearful of the housewarming knickknacks they may get — they chose to make the party a “fundraiser,” giving guests the option of making a donation to one of several charities. The first year yielded around $1,300 for charity and the fundraising idea stuck. The Dowlings recruited a committee and partnered with five charities.

Now entering its ninth year, Share the Spirit has raised over $50,980 for charitable causes.
